Scale Modellers Malaysia is excited to announce our year-end modelling extravaganza! There will be 3 events happening at Jaya One on the 2 and 3 of December 2023. So, mark your calendars and get your sprue cutters ready for:

  1. The SMM Annual Scale Modelling Competition - Terms and Conditions are listed below. [To participate, please REGISTER here]
  2. FineMold's Model Meet Exhibition organized by F4dable Models. - Visit F4dable Models website for details and registration. 
  3. SMM Annual General Meeting (AGM) - All SMM members are encouraged to attend. [Due to unforeseen circumstances, the AGM will be rescheduled to a later date in December. We will notify members once the AGM date is confirmed]

Terms and Conditions of SMM Annual

  1. Open to all scale modellers except judges, sponsors and immediate families.
  2. Commission built models shall not be eligible.
  3. By participating, all participants declare that they consented and agreed to these terms and conditions and no dispute of outcome decided by the Organiser or judges will be entertained.
  4. All Entries are subject to handling by judges or organiser and reasonable care will be accorded to protect the models. The organiser and judge shall not be responsible for damage arising from this.
  5. The Judges' decision is final.
  6. The Organiser and Sponsor reserves the right to subsitute prizes for similar value items without prior notice if the need arises. All prizes are not transferable.
  7. Acceptance of the Prizes constitute an agreement for the Organiser and/or Sponsor and their agencies and rights to publish, display or use the name, addresses, photographs and information of all winners and models for publicity and advertising without compensation or notice.

Competition Eligibility

  1. The competition is eligible to all modellers. SMM members are accorded entry waiver as described. All data and details submission must be true and accurate. False data may render the entries void and fee forfeited.
  2. Only models which have not entered any prior SMM annuals are eligible, unless reworked.
  3. All fees to be levied shall be non-refundable and payable via online transfer by 29th Nov 2023.
  4. The categories for entry are divided based on the judging guidelines. All entries will be judged for their quality eligibility to receive awards.
  5. Entry fee of RM15 per model or RM40 for 3 models.

Other Conditions and Disclaimers

  1. The registration and submission of entries are as detailed in the heading.
  2. All Participants are to collect their respective models only at the close of the event on 3rd Dec 7.00PM. Any uncollected models shall be kept by SMM and no responsibility will be assumed for these models.
  3. All models shall be displayed for public viewing (except judging periods) and no models are to be removed by the participants for the duration of SMM Annual 2023.
  4. The organiser and sponsors shall not be responsible for the models or losses or damages suffered during SMM Annual 2023. Participants shall not hold the organiser and/or sponsors liable for damages, loss, directly or indirectly suffered of incurred during the event or in the eventuality of any suspension, termination or cancellation of this competition.
  5. All communications, comments or materials sent to the organiser including feedback shall be deemed non confidential nor private.
  6. Any damage to the models submitted, in transit, at the event grounds and out shall not be the responsibility of the event organisers nor its agents.

On behalf of the committee of SMM and the editorial team, we are pleased to present to you the inaugural issue of our very own newsletter called "Malaysian Modeller".

What you see here is the end product of months of work by the editorial team's volunteers. I could not ask for more from the team.

We wish to emphasise that the idea of publishing a newsletter is to benefit you, the membership of SMM. We wish to thank each member who contributed articles for the inaugural issue.

If anyone is inclined to write and contribute in further editions of the newsletter, we welcome your contribution.

Download Issue 1 of Malaysian Modeller

Happy 65th Merdeka Day to Malaysians. As has been the tradition of SMM, we are organising a Merdeka Group Build. The event will be held on the 16th of September at Area88 Hobby Shop so start your builds. As usual, you can build any subjects, military or non-military, related to Malaya/Malaysia.

If you are into helicopters or ships, don't miss out on the Ship and Helicopter Group Build happening on the 30th of July 2022. View some of the submissions on the SMM Facebook group. Dust off your kits and start building!

Group build - Kinetic and Tamiya F4

Join the Kinetic Model Kit Challenge on March 26, 2022. Any model kit from Kinetic is eligible. 

We will also have the Tamiya F4B group build on the same day.

Merdeka Exhibition

SMM is pleased to announce another installation of the MERDEKA exhibition in scaleART2018. Invitation is now open to add your collection of models related to Tanah Melayu, Malaya and Malaysia for display consideration in the MERDEKA2018 Exhibition section. Please send us pictures of your models for consideration to be displayed together with models that graced the halls of Muzium Negara in 2011 and also at the recent exhibition in TUDM Butterworth. Conditions apply.

SMM Competition

scaleART2018 features our very own SMM Annual competition open to all registered SFTPMS/SMM members. After an absence of 4 years, we are back. Come join our competition and have your models graded. Free for all members. Non members will be welcomed with a small token fee. Better yet, join SMM and get a free entry as well as a free T-shirt.

KINETIC Challenge 2018

SMM is pleased to receive the green light to announce KINETIC CHALLENGE 2018 as part of the main features in scaleART2018. This is a KINETIC and related brand exclusive competition that will be featured for the first time and a little bird whispered in our ear that the first prize will be a sponsored return ticket to UK to enter the Telford SCALE MODELWORLD competition. Start your engines and stay tuned for more info. This will be a good one!.
